Obtaining a GET Exemption

All nonprofit organizations are required to complete a G-6 Form in order to qualify for exemption from GET (general excise tax).

Please read these instructions before completing the G-6 Form:

Then complete this form:

(Note: You will need have a copy of your IRS letter of determination or a complete copy of your submitted Form 1023 in order to complete the short version of this form.)

Obtaining your GET License (BB-1 Application)

To obtain your GET license, you need to complete the BB-1 application. The fee for this application is $20. Any entity conducting business in Hawai`i must have a GET license. Even if you believe you are exempt, you must obtain the application, obtain a license, and complete the exemption application.
